Steady Days

Not too much exciting or crazy has been happening in our homeschool lately. We've been having lots of steady days the past few weeks. I've learned to appreciate those. Steady days are the best days.

We just got back to the books after our fall break last week. We plan ahead to take a break at the end of September because the weather is usually quite gorgeous and we were not disappointed! But taking a break from the books does not mean we were not learning! We went on many adventures and even visited an art museum. Learning happens any place, any time and the best learning might not look like learning at all while you're in it!

Here are some photos from the past few weeks.

JJ has been working on reading, making the words on our magnetic whiteboard with these magnetic letters, and then writing these words. He loves it!

Melody's school involves lots of practical life skills including blessing her little brother by slicing his grapes in half!

Books and coffee. Thank you Sonlight for making our year wonderful! <3

4K Sonlight book. Melody loves it SO much!

Buddha board. If you don't have one, get one! It's essentially painting with water. The ultimate low-mess, reusable art tool.

Still loving Learning Dynamics for reading. It's downright FUN! Such a blessing!

Waterbeads. Always waterbeads :)

If I have one piece of advice it is this: fill your home with books. Tons and tons of quality books. I am a minimalist but not when it comes to books. I love our library but honestly going to the library with three kiddos is a project and nothing beats a kid saying "how does..." and being able to pull a book right off the shelf to explore that idea. I know we have the internet but we aim to be as low-screen here as possible - they'll get PLENTY as they grow - and I know all of our books are safe! So fill your home with books.

It's a common thing to walk into a room and find someone "reading" - even if it's not a kid book!

Books, everybody. Books everywhere all the time. <3
Even upside down books from little free libraries :)
