Week 8

It's hard to believe we're already wrapping up our eighth week of this journey! There have been some challenges here and there but overall it has gone SO much better than I originally expected with C being such a little person. He's a fabulous sport and we have not needed to work during his nap time with the exception of our reading program. That's best without him although there have been days he has joined us!

J and M love school and ask to do it every day - even on non school days! They also love the co-op we are a part of on Fridays and look forward to going each week. I love the freedom, flexibility, and time together this school choice has given us.

An unexpected benefit of school is that J, M and C now play together better! I believe this is because they are appreciating their free play time more (and they're growing up, too!). Additionally, J is happier since he is being challenged mentally and this results in him being less bored.

We have a four day school week and then go to a co-op on Friday mornings. This schedule has been awesome and Friday afternoons are reserved for extra rest times, getting the house ready for the weekend (I don't do chores on the weekend - that's family time!) and time outside! Friday nights are sometimes movie/show night which is a fun way to kick off the weekend.

Here are some pictures from the past week or so.

Lots of parks these days in the afternoons but it's so sad - even late afternoon and they're empty! I don't know if it's just too cold or if kids have too much homework or if getting to the park after school is too much to juggle for parents but we miss the friends we used to make at the parks!

One of the only workbooks we use but they LOVE it!

They are doing the same level work which is crazy convenient. A definite plus to kiddos that are 17 months apart!

I wrote out words for J, told him to read them, copy them and draw a picture showing them (a sneaky way of testing comprehension). It was pretty fun :)

Field trip to Animart - the free popcorn is a nice treat! J liked the birds best, M the cats and C definitely the dogs.

Walks every day with this wild and happy crew! Goodness I love them!

(Great book but I'd still move to Colorado...)

We have a lovely school room but this is not an uncommon sight! School anywhere and everywhere!

My sons working together. This bond. <3

So handsome! He likes that he has a place just for him and I love this buddha board because I can let him go wild without having a huge mess to clean up!
