Reading
Reading and writing have been hard for us. Slow. Painfully slow. Math is easy, entire weekly lessons done in a flash. Comprehension of listened to material was excellent. But writing has been such a struggle and reading has brought us both frustration. Even holding a pencil the 'right' way brought tears. We put it all on hold and made the decision to wait. We waited while friends excelled. We waited while strangers asked. We waited while many other children in Sunday school signed their name on their art. And I reminded myself and him that he is only four. But it was hard to wait and watch others make progress while our books sat unopened. Reading and writing often feel like the litmus test for homeschooling - if you can do this you can do it and if you can't you better rethink yourself. Worries filled my anxious mind in weak moments.
