First week and traveling while homeschooling

We wrapped up our first week on Friday and my goodness, it was a wonderful week. It went a lot smoother than I thought a first week might! We got our school work done each day and even had extra time and went on an adventure one day afterwards. I am very pleasantly surprised by the modest amount of time our book work takes and how much time we have left for learning through life and play -the best forms of learning! My favorite part so far is getting to see them learn and never having to say goodbye.

Next week we are going camping for three days but school went so well we are not stopping but rather taking it with us. What's not fun than reading around a campfire or doing math on a bunk bed?! This is the beauty of homeschooling. Below I will share how we are taking only what we need so we aren't loaded down or risking losing expensive curriculum.

Everything we need for the days we are gone fits in here!

I took out the pages we needed and slid the stack into sheet protectors divided by subject

I took pictures of the pages we would need to reference if it was only a few pages in a book so we didn't have to take the whole book.

The markers and pencils we need are in these lap clipboards from Target. One per child! Perfect for school and for fun! I loaded them up with stickers and coloring pages for the car and restaurant stops.

Lesson plans for the week. Thank you Sonlight for doing the hard part for me!

Math lessons

The science questions we need for the three days.

Girl loves math!

So does the boy! They take after their dad and also Math u see is so much fun it's hard not to love it.

Field Trip to the historical museum

We got out every day before book work for exercise. Let the neighbors talk if they want but how can anyone sit down and focus before moving their body!?

Science project!

C was a happy boy this week. He colored and played in his highchair, played on the floor around us and sat in my lap for the reading parts...

He also made a huge mess while my back was turned :) Absolutely perfect for his age and for a homeschool household :)

  1. You are seriously so organized I love everything about this!!! I love the exercise for the kids, the organization, the experiments and mess (mainly cause the mess is at your house not mine 😉)! I enjoy watching what you guys are doing! Keep up the good work mama!
